Blessing of gifts for children and young people with heart disease

Heinrich Bauer GmbH & Co. KG donates 5,000 euros and numerous toys

To put a smile on the faces of seriously ill children and young people - that is the goal of Pia Bauer, owner of the Nuremberg-based family business Heinrich Bauer GmbH & Co. KG. Together with her employee Luisa Lohneis, she therefore handed over numerous toys such as model cars and fluffy plush toys as well as a check for 5,000 euros to the head of the pediatric cardiology department of the Erlangen University Hospital, Prof. Dr. Sven Dittrich.

For many years, Pia Bauer has been supporting projects of the Erlangen Children's Oncology Department and the Toy Run - Träume für kranke Kinder Erlangen e.V., which regularly makes the little patients of the Erlangen Children's and Youth Hospital's eyes sparkle with its campaigns. "But I thought that children with heart disease could also use a little cheering up," says Pia Bauer. That's why the owner of the toy company and her employee Luisa Lohneis had numerous boxes full of toys for the sick children and young people in their luggage during their visit. "It is a great personal concern of mine to continue to support the Erlangen pediatric cardiology department with donations in kind and money," said Pia Bauer at the handover.

Of the 5,000 euros, for example, the parents' lounge will be equipped with new utensils. "This ranges from cookware to a sofa," Prof. Dittrich enumerated. "But we can also make an interpreter service for non-German-speaking mothers and fathers and the like possible thanks to this great donation. We are very pleased to be able to make our patients' and their parents' stay with us a little more pleasant."
